[Done] Suggestion: map editor

Post by demoix »

This feature would really make game badass. Then makings would be unlimmited. Every player could make their own maps or even scenarios. With start locations, how mutch neutral hex can have defences, neutral hex places and so on. Also would be good if there will be map data base, where every player from the world can share own maps with others and download it from that maps/scenarios data base

Now I am trying to find some ready to use and free hex map editor. If I find it then I can adapt its format of maps for WoC. Developing of map editor for WoC are not so easily.

Resolved!
I found Tiled Map Editor. It comes with easy hex map editor, ability export maps to csv/xml formats. Is there need to describe map developing in the how-to manual?
For example, following image and csv-file of my first developed map with sizes 20x20. :)

There are bad and good news. :)
The bad news is that Tiled Map Editor have few incompatibles with game. The good news is... so I'm developing own map editor now. Here are prototype of map editor and you can try it. :) Do you have any suggestions?

Perfect, just perfect. Simple to use, everything is what it need for game. Only one suggestion - need bigger map size. And as I already suggested - different value of hex'es, I mean -every hex value right now is = 1 , so maybe could be different hexs who generate 1 hex = 2 armies or so on.

P.s. After save map I got error - GwtApplication: exception: Cannot write to files in GWT backend . It's because of still prototype?

I'm trying to start open beta testing (everyone can testing). So after few hours google will be publish new version of WOC for beta testing by follow link. https://play.google.com/apps/testing/sv ... olors.free

I was testing on these attached map files. You can create your own custom maps by online WOC Map Editor. If you want to publish your own custom maps, please create another one topic for them.

How to use:
  • 1. Upload (through usb-link or etc) or download (by using online WOC Map Editor) custom map to your device.
  • 2. Click on game mode button and select "*Choose map*" item.
  • 3. Now button with size of map transforms to "*Choose map*". Click on it (optional: choose program that will be use for opening map file).
  • 4. Choose map file.
  • 5. Select players and go!
Btw, maximum size of custom maps increased to 20x11.
